A Swedish research institute that analyzes the world's military situation found that as Russia's military invasion of Ukraine continues, weapons imports from European countries nearly doubled in the five years up to last year compared to the previous period. We have compiled a report on this.

We analyze that this is due to increased demand for air defense systems due to the situation in Ukraine.

The Stockholm International Peace Research Institute in Sweden is analyzing the flow of weapons imports and exports using unique indicators based on factors such as the cost of producing weapons. We have released a report on the status of transactions.

According to the report, weapons imports by European countries increased by 94% compared to the five years from 2014 to 2018, roughly doubling.

Of these, Ukraine had the largest amount of imports, with a significant increase of more than 60 times, due to the fact that at least 30 countries have supplied military support with weapons such as fighter jets and missiles since Russia's military invasion. .

Regarding the situation in Europe as a whole, the Institute analyzes that ``Russia's missile attack on Ukraine has increased the demand for air defense systems in Europe.''

Meanwhile, Japan's imports have increased by 155%, and the Institute points out that the country is investing heavily in long-range attack capabilities, primarily due to rising tensions with China and North Korea.
