Spain: the right between anger and helplessness, faced with the amnesty of Catalan separatists
The day after the approval of the amnesty law in a parliamentary committee in Madrid, the right and the Spanish right-wing media did not take off.
They promise that the socialists in power will not have an easy legislature.

A feeling of anger and helplessness: this mixture characterizes the reaction of the
Spanish
right and the conservative media, after the rapprochement between Catalan separatists and the government of
Pedro Sanchez
.
The reactions are very vehement against the decision to approve
an amnesty law
, which makes it possible to seal an agreement between Catalan separatists and the Sanchez government and facilitate the mandate of Pedro Sanchez.
The latter will grant pardons to several hundred secessionist leaders or activists involved in the movement aimed at the divorce of Catalonia from Spain.
“An attack on the rule of law”, according to Feijoo
“
This is an attack on the rule of law
,” said Nunez Feijoo, the leader of the right-wing opposition.
He promised to do everything to mobilize the European Commission and the European courts, in order to declare this amnesty unconstitutional.
In his eyes, it is a way of favoring the separatist camp, with the sole aim of giving a sufficient majority to the socialists in power.

It’s a bad law.
It is blackmail against Spanish democracy
,” added the Popular Party.
Right-wing media, like
El Confidencial
or ABC, are not afraid of words.
According to them, it would be “
a political atrocity which will end up costing Pedro Sanchez dearly
”.
