Winners of 10 editions, a record, and in particular the last two, Al Ahly aimed for an incredible hat-trick, - a first on the African continent - against the Moroccans of Wydad Athletic Club at the Mohammed V Complex in Casablanca.

Missed goal for Pitso players Mosimane had the opportunity to become the second coach to win the Champions League four times.

, the men of Wydad Casablanca, double winners of the competition (1992, 2017), were aiming for a third title in front of their home crowd, two years after their last meeting.

Night had not yet fallen at kick-off, and the Moroccan public were hoping for a party at home, five years after Wydad's second title.

The Moroccan giants were playing in the final for the third time since their last conquest in 2017. At the time, they had beaten Al Ahly in the final, while it was still a two-legged final.

It was a

repetitive bis

that lit up this evening of football on the side of Casablanca for the WAC which will remain as the best attack of this edition.

From the 15th minute, with a cannonball from 35 meters, Zouheir El Moutaraji found the skylight to score the goal of the evening, capsizing the Complexe Mohammed V. A few minutes earlier, Mbenza had tried his luck with a ball that touched the Egyptian cross.

And despite a superior ball possession, the Egyptians have very few opportunities in the first period to pick up the score.

Returning from the locker room, Zouheir El-Moutaraji took advantage of a good cross to score twice, and his fifth goal in the competition (48th).

For the Moroccans, the evening will remain historic, as for coach Walid Regragui, who has had a perfect season with WAC.
