A tractor-trailer lost cooking fat over a twelve-kilometer stretch in Lower Saxony.

The police said on Tuesday that intersections and streets in Edewecht, some of which were significantly dirty, were then cleaned at great expense by a specialist company.

The cause of the contamination was an exhaust valve on the truck that was not completely closed, which meant that parts of the load spilled onto the road.

According to the information, the closed sections of the route could only be fully opened early on Tuesday morning.

It was said that traffic offenses had been initiated against the driver of the tractor-trailer due to failure to secure the load.
