Fukuoka Prefecture announced on the 4th that it was confirmed that seven new people were infected with the new mutant virus "Omicron strain" of the new coronavirus.

A total of 9 people have been confirmed to be infected with Omicron strains in the prefecture.

According to Fukuoka Prefecture, seven men and women in their teens to 70s have been newly confirmed to be infected with the Omicron strain.

Six of the seven had no history of traveling abroad, but were in contact with people infected with or suspected of being infected with the Omicron strain.

The other was on the same plane as the suspected infected person.

The prefecture says that it does not correspond to a new community-acquired infection, saying that the infection route is known.

Six of the seven have been vaccinated twice and one has been vaccinated once, and all are now hospitalized, but the symptoms are mild.

The total number of people confirmed to be infected with the Omicron strain in Fukuoka Prefecture is now nine.

The prefecture is calling for thorough basic infection control measures such as wearing masks, and is gradually expanding so that free tests can be taken at pharmacies to prevent the spread of infection.
