Kyoto Prefecture announced that it has been confirmed that 13 new people have been infected with the new coronavirus "Omicron strain" in the prefecture.


Five of them participated in the same dinner, and Kyoto Prefecture is said to have the first cluster of Omicron strains in the prefecture.

According to Kyoto Prefecture, 13 new cases of infection with the "Omicron strain" have been confirmed for men and women under the age of 10 to 90s.



All 13 have already been hospitalized and all have asymptomatic or mild symptoms.



Five of them participated in the same dinner held in the prefecture in December, and it is said that Kyoto prefecture was the first in the prefecture to have a cluster of Omicron strains.



In addition, the prefecture says that five people, including some who participated in this dinner, have no history of traveling abroad and the infection route is unknown, "there is a high possibility of a new community-acquired infection."



This brings the total number of people confirmed to be infected with the Omicron strain in Kyoto Prefecture to 41.
