In February, Dagens Nyheter was contacted by Omni, which had noted that four of Dagens Nyheter's articles were identical to articles published by Omni.

"When we looked at this, we saw that our articles had gone beyond the right to cite," says Peter Wolodarski.

Dagens Nyheter then chose to conduct its own investigation and saw that there were more articles than the four that they had been made aware of by Omni.

"There were a lot more articles, about ten from the Omni news service, and it was the same employees who had done this. We apologized to Omni for this and removed the articles from Dagens Nyheter's site, says Peter Wolodarski.

Actions taken

DN has taken measures to prevent something like this from happening again.

"Out of consideration and concern for the individual employee, I don't want to go into the details of exactly what the measures are. But we have done our utmost to ensure that this does not happen again," says Peter Wolodarski.

Marcus Gustafsson, publisher of Omni, writes in an email to Expressen that they are satisfied with DN's actions:

"From a publisher's perspective, I can really only conclude that we, in any case, are satisfied with how DN has handled it. We discovered errors, they handled it well."
