Beijing, April 4 -- Recently, the latest "24 Workplace Youth Reading Behavior Observation Report" shows that young people's enthusiasm for reading continues to rise, and eighty percent of the interviewed young people maintain reading habits. "Video reading" and "listening to books" have become new choices for some working youth, but the view that "text reading cannot be replaced" is generally recognized.

Eighty percent of the young people surveyed have daily reading behavior

In order to understand the reading status, reading habits and influencing factors of young people in the workplace, human resource service providers analyze and interpret the reading characteristics and trends of professionals based on the questionnaire information collected.

According to the survey, eighty percent of the interviewed young people have daily reading behavior. In the choice of reading form, professionals often use a variety of forms to meet the needs of different scenarios, most of the respondents tend to digital reading, of which nearly eighty percent are accustomed to reading online through mobile phones, iPads and other mobile terminal networks, and 29% use e-readers to read. At the same time, paper reading as an important way of "deep reading" is still irreplaceable, with 48.2% of the interviewed young people choosing it.

The development of Internet technology has derived an alternative way of reading: the platform generates video and voice from the secondary creation of book materials, providing users with "reading". From the interpretation of famous books to the sharing of recommended books, this form of reading has begun to become the first choice of some professionals. According to the survey, 33.9% and 19.6% of young people in the workplace have the habit of "listening to books" and "video reading" respectively.

In the face of this phenomenon, people can't help but wonder: can video reading replace text reading? During the interview, we learned that everyone generally agrees that "text reading cannot be replaced". The interviewed youth said that no matter how close the interpretation of the video is to the author of the text, it cannot change the nature of the secondary creation. At the same time, the choice of reading texts is also determined by self-will, and this equal choice is incomparable to video reading, so the value of first-hand reading cannot be replaced. In the era of information explosion, what can really trigger thinking is still good content, whether the carrier is paper or digital, both have their own living space.

Out of their own interests and hobbies, 59.8% of working youth enjoy reading; 55.2% of people hope to cultivate their self-cultivation and improve their connotation through reading; 38.5% said that at a time of increased uncertainty, reading has become a refuge for anxiety to gain the smallest unit of freedom. Reading is good for all ages

However, 16.6% and 3.3% of people also believe that "non-essential and unnecessary payment" and "no willingness to pay for knowledge". The rest of the population is in a wavering wait-and-see phase, saying that "most works are not worth paying for, only pay for excellent works" (16.3%), and "if you can't find free resources, you can pay for quality content" (7.6%). In the choice of payment methods, "recharge reading coins" and "purchase monthly pass" are the most common payment methods. (End)
