The people interviewed were asked to rank in order of importance the solutions proposed to fight against drug traffickers in Marseille.

35% of French people questioned placed the strengthening of police forces in second place.

Next comes giving more power to justice, for 31% of French people.

28% of respondents think that the army should be involved, and 27% that drug users should be punished more severely.

22% consider that it is necessary to strengthen the local associative fabric to maintain links with young people.

Finally, 10% of French people questioned lean towards another proposal.

Divisions in terms of age and political proximity

In detail, the divisions are mainly at the level of age and political proximity of the French people interviewed.

Overall, those under 35 are less in favor of toughening conditions of detention in prisons to prevent traffickers from operating from their cells (34%).

A figure which drops to 24% for 18-24 year olds.

Conversely, those aged 50 and over are 45% in favor (a figure which rises to 47% for those aged 65 and over).

Conversely, young people under 35 are more in favor of strengthening the local associative fabric to maintain links with young people (28%, and this rises to 30% for 18-24 year olds), while only 18% of those over 50 are considering it.

The political divide is also felt on certain proposals.

Left-wing voters are less in favor of toughening conditions of detention in prisons to prevent traffickers from operating from their cells (35%), of involving the army (19%) and of punishing more severely drug users (21%).

On the other hand, they are much more in favor of strengthening the local associative fabric to maintain links with young people (44%).

For their part, right-wing voters are more favorable to toughening conditions of detention in prisons to prevent traffickers from operating from their cells (46%), to involving the army (41%) and to punish drug users more severely (33%).

On the contrary, only 10% think that it is necessary to strengthen the local associative fabric to maintain links with young people.
