Last year, a 46-year-old worker was arrested for defrauding a woman in her 80s out of 1 million yen in cash by pretending to be an employee of a financial institution.

The worker is believed to be the "receiver" of the recipient of cash, etc., and has stated that he was "repeatedly invited by SNS".

Arrested was a warehouse worker in Funabashi City, Chiba Prefecture, Suspect Lee Shin-cheol (46).

According to the Metropolitan Police Department, in December last year, a woman in her 80s made a phone call to the home of a woman in her 80s pretending to be a staff member of a financial institution, and told a lie that "money was being withdrawn illegally" from a woman in her 80s with a cash card. It is suspected that he defrauded two cards and 1 million yen in cash.

Workers are seen as recipients of cash, so-called "receivers".

According to investigative sources, the worker was arrested last month for stealing a necklace from a precious metal store after being told by someone he was communicating with on social media, "If you're in need of money, you should steal precious metals." When analyzing the smartphone, it was found that a highly confidential communication application was also receiving instructions from the "receiver".

In response to the investigation, he confessed to the charges and stated that he had debts, was invited on SNS, and repeatedly worked as a receiver.

The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating in detail, assuming that the "receiver" was repeated.
