Police have charged a 27-year-old man with a separate theft case after a man in his 70s was found murdered with clothing tied around his neck in an apartment in Suzuka, Mie Prefecture, in January. A man was arrested on suspicion of robbery and murder for killing a man and stealing over 20,000 yen in cash.

The person arrested was Hoichi Misaki (27), who is unemployed and has no fixed residence.

According to the police, on the 8th of last month, Misaki broke into an apartment in Suehirokita, Suzuka City, strangled to death Yasuo Kondo, 77, a part-time worker who lived in the apartment, and took about 20,000 yen in cash. He is suspected of robbery, murder, and home invasion for stealing 5,000 yen and other items.

The victim was found dead with clothing tied around his neck.

Misaki had been arrested and charged in another theft case, and after the incident, police suspected that he was involved in the incident because he was seen driving Kondo's car in footage from a nearby security camera. We proceeded with the investigation and arrested him again on the 9th.

According to investigators, the suspect lived in the same apartment as Mr. Kondo until mid-December of last year and appears to have known him, so police are investigating the motive and circumstances of the incident in detail.

Police have not revealed whether the suspect was admitted or denied, as it would hinder the investigation.
