On April 27, the reporter went to Shanghai Yangshan Deepwater Port to visit.

According to Tu Weifeng, deputy director of the Port Supervision Office of the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Communications, in the first quarter of 2022, the port’s container throughput was 12.262 million TEU, a year-on-year increase of 8.14%.

Since the current round of the epidemic, especially after the city was closed and controlled, Shanghai Port has faced unprecedented pressure and difficulties.

At present, the passage and operation of ships in Shanghai Port are normal, and there is no congestion in the port. Among them, container ships can operate at the reliable port within 36 hours after arriving at the port.

The overall operation efficiency of containers in the whole port was not affected by the closure and control.

In April, the average daily container throughput of Shanghai Port is expected to be around 100,000 TEUs, which is about 75% of the previous daily average of 135,000 TEUs, which can fully meet the shipping needs of shippers in Shanghai Port.
