It was in April 2019 that Expressen's cultural site published a debate article by journalist and author Lawen Mothadi entitled "Gellert Tamas offended me and took my job".

The article portrays Mothadi's view of the work with her and Tama's documentary on the author Katarina Taikon. In the text, harsh criticism is directed at Gellert Tamas, who is accused, among other things, of having invisible Mothadi during the course of the project and of having taken credit for her work.

Reported newspaper - get it right

Gellert Tamas responded to the criticism in his own debate article in the Media World, and in turn described Mothadi as clandestine and irreverent in the work process. He also reported the Express to the Press Ombudsman, where the newspaper is now being dropped for causing Tamas an irresponsible publicity injury.

“Essen includes very derogatory information about his behavior and him as a person. The fact that the information is published in an essay on the newspaper's cultural page does not mean that the publication is pressurally acceptable, ”writes the Ethics Committee in its decision.

Gellert Tamas was informed of the debate article only afterwards, and was not given the opportunity to respond to the criticism before publishing it. That point was not decisive for the fallout, but the Ethics Board writes that it would have been better if Expressen offered Gellert Tamas the alternative to comment on the criticism in advance.

Culture News is looking for Expressen's Culture Manager Karin Olsson for a comment.
