E-mail to a woman or former Saitama parliament arrested November 21 15:17

A former member of the Saitama Prefectural Assembly was arrested on suspicion of violating the stalker regulation law for urgently sending a harassment email to a woman whom she had previously been associated with.

Mr. Masatoshi Ito (37), former member of the Saitama Parliament, was arrested.

According to investigators, former member Ito is suspected of violating the stalker regulation law from September to this month, trying to harass and e-mail a woman in her forties.

In response to the investigation, he stated that he “emailed but did not call” and denied some of the charges.

In May of last year, Ito, who was a member of the prefectural assembly, was sent a document to the same woman, saying that she wanted to meet her, and she was not prosecuted in April.

After that, the police are examining the details of the fact that e-mails saying “I do not allow” have come to be sent.

In November last year, Mr. Ito resigned as a member of the Diet because he was unable to fulfill his responsibilities due to his physical condition.
