The SVT production "Händelser vid vatten" is based on the author Kerstin Ekman's hit novel from 1993. Today, Friday, the last episode of the TV series is released and now Kerstin Ekman herself comments on how she sees the production - which is well received.

Above all, the scenography and the striking of tones in the portrayal of the characters impress Ekman.

- And that they have understood at all that this is a book about people in a landscape.

That the landscape is, in a way, the main character, that was it for me when I wrote.

So how the landscape affects people and how people affect the landscape, says Kerstin Ekman in "Meet the stars: Events by water" and adds:

- They have taken advantage of that very nicely.

Worked with scripts

Over the years, many have wanted to give moving life to "Händelser vid vatten", but Kerstin Ekman has firmly said no.

Until the Danish production company Apple Tree Productions got in touch and invited her into the process.

- I went through the entire script when it was finished.

It is the case that people in villages like this and to the north - it is not a matter of putting in any dialect - but they express themselves in a different way.

And it gets a little urban sometimes when people from down under sit down and write.

So I've fiddled with words and kept at it, says Kerstin Ekman to SVT.

Tributes to August and Lassgård

It wasn't just the script that impressed Kerstin Ekman.

So did the cast, both Pernilla August and Rolf Lassgård she could immediately imagine doing the characters justice.

The fact that Pernilla August also has two daughters who act and played roles in the series that spans a long time was another bonus.

- I am impressed by the actors.

How they portray these people in a way that is so good based on the text and the script.

I'm actually very happy for this series, that it ended up being something like that, says Kerstin Ekman.

Watch Kerstin Ekman tell more about her writing and the turbulent time she was in when she wrote "Händelser vid vatten" in "Meet the stars: Händelser vid vatten" on SVT Play.
