They are probably one of the most famous mother-daughter duos in film history.

Over twenty years after the release of “Freaky Friday,” the story is now set to continue with Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis in the lead roles.

Lohan told People that she was excited to work with Curtis again.

The new film is already being planned.

She was unable to announce when filming would begin or whether there was already a finished script.

The two are also close off-screen.

Lohan said of her friendship with Curtis: "We talk almost every day anyway.

I think we will have a lot of fun with this project.«

A possible sequel has been around for a long time.

On the film's twentieth anniversary last year, Curtis spoke in several interviews about plans for a follow-up film.

In an interview with The New York Times, she said that when she was touring the world for another film, many people asked her about a sequel.

"I called my friends at Disney and said, 'I think there's a movie we need to make.'" Lohan added in the same interview, "We're both open to a sequel.

But we just want to create something that people will absolutely love." And now it's official - "Freaky Friday" continues.

The story is based on a book published in 1972.

The popular version with Lohan and Curtis was not the first film adaptation.

Jodie Foster and Barbara Harris starred in the first film version as early as 1976.

A film adaptation followed in 1995 with Shelley Long and Gaby Hoffman.

However, the classic with Lohan and Curtis is the most successful film adaptation.

The film grossed over $160 million worldwide.
