Teachers, parents and students from the Mondétour college in Les Ulis (Essonne) occupied the school overnight from Friday to Saturday, reports Actu Essonne.

They joined the establishment after demonstrating in the streets of the city.

On one square, the teachers acted out small scenes by reproducing classes of 30 students.

They intended to denounce the “enormous difficulties” encountered by the college and to demand more human resources.

The demands expressed are the creation of a full-time post of principal education adviser (CPE), classes with a maximum of 26 students and the classification of the establishment in a priority education network (REP).

On this last point, the academy of Versailles stressed that the social position index of the Mondétour college appeared too high.

Regarding the post of full-time CPE, the rectorate specified that with 1.5 full-time equivalents, the college was in the standard of the other establishments of the academy.

The protesters notably highlighted the resurgence of violence, the declining results and the risk of a two-speed school.
