The departure of Muhammad Al-Sanousi.. a media stature.. and the owner of a fingerprint in “Al-Risala” and “Omar Al-Mukhtar”

Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum honored the late with the Media Personality of the Year Award at the 11th edition of the Arab Journalism Award.

Kuwait and the Arab media scene lost this morning, the distinguished journalist and former Minister of Information, Muhammad Al-Sanousi, at the age of 84, after a struggle with illness.

Mohammed Al-Sanousi, who was honored by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, with the Media Personality of the Year award in the 11th session of the Arab Press Award, is considered one of the symbols of the Gulf and Arab media and has prominent contributions during his long media career.

 The Kuwaiti Ministry of Information mourned the late, saying in a statement issued by it, “The late great Al-Sanousi is one of the most important names that shone in the Kuwaiti media sky, as he held many positions, the most important of which was the position of Kuwaiti Minister of Information, and during his career he presented many successful media works.”

She emphasized that the Kuwaiti media lost, with the departure of the journalist Al-Sanousi, one of its main pillars and a great stature from his professional stature, noting that he was one of the founders of Kuwait TV.

The statement added that the late journalist Al-Sanousi was famous for his outstanding ability to present distinguished talk shows that deal with fundamental and societal issues, and he also had contributions that constituted milestones at the level of Arab media, such as producing the movie “The Message” and contributing to the production of Omar Al-Mukhtar.

The late journalist obtained his university degree from the University of Southern California, USA, in media. He also studied criticism at the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts in Egypt. He was one of the founders of the official Kuwait TV in 1960, and worked in it as an executive officer and program coordinator, director, producer and program preparer.

Al-Sanousi contributed to the production of Al-Risala and Omar Al-Mukhtar.

In 1964, he became a program observer for television, then general manager, then assistant undersecretary for television affairs in the ministry until 1985.

Muhammad Al-Sanousi was famous for presenting talk shows dealing with many important issues. The late, during his long career, was interested in shedding light on wrong behaviors in society. He is credited with establishing the Kuwait Film Club and establishing the TV Troupe for Folklore.
