The mukhtar of the Dughmush family was martyred in an Israeli bombing of the Sunni neighborhoods mosque in Gaza (French)

The news published by the Israeli newspaper “Yedioth Ahronoth” about the execution by the security services in Gaza, affiliated with the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), of a group of mukhtars of large families in Gaza, including the mukhtar of the Dughmush family, under the pretext of cooperation with the Israeli occupation, sparked widespread controversy among tweeters about the veracity of the information, even if it was true. Whether or not Hamas actually did this.

As the news spread on social media platforms, the head of the media office in Gaza, Salama Maarouf, denied the incident through a post on his Facebook page, saying, “We deny what was reported by the (Israeli) Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper and reported by a number of media outlets with a suspicious agenda, about allegations of the execution of family mukhtars by Security services in Gaza.”

Salama added, "Publishing such allegations comes in the context of the occupation's continued attempts to destabilize our internal front and cause chaos."

The Dughmush family then issued a statement on its Facebook page, “The Central Council of the Daghmush Family,” saying that a fabricated and false statement had been circulated on behalf of the family page accusing Hamas of killing the family’s mukhtar.

The statement added, "In this regard, we confirm that the Mukhtar of the Dughmush family, Haj Saleh Ashour Daghmush, and a group of notables, were martyred at the beginning of the war by a brutal Israeli bombing of the family’s mosque, the Ahya al-Sunna Mosque, during the sunset prayer on November 16, 2023."

After the family announced the martyrdom of its mukhtar in an Israeli bombing, Al Jazeera Net began searching for other sources in which news of the martyrdom of the Mukhtar of the Doghmush family was reported. During the search process, it became clear that the head of the Euro-Mediterranean Observatory, Rami Abdo, had written a blog post on his account on the X platform on December 17 last year in which he published the names. The martyrs are from the Daghmush family who were martyred in the Israeli bombing of the Al-Sabra neighborhood, and the first name published was Saleh Ashour Daghmush (the chosen one).

During further research, it was found that Al Jazeera Mubasher published the day after Rami Abdo’s post on its Facebook page that local Palestinian media had published a list of the names of 109 martyrs from one family, who were martyred as a result of an Israeli bombing of the Al-Sabra neighborhood in the western Gaza Strip, and the name of the chosen one was Saleh. Daghmush is on the list, and many Palestinian accounts published the names of the martyrs.

Tweeters commented on the Israeli narrative by saying that the occupation is trying to sow discord in any way between the Palestinian resistance factions, led by Hamas, and the tribes in Gaza, demanding that the Israeli media’s narratives not be adopted without verifying the veracity of the information or news.

On December 28, they discovered that the occupation had committed a massacre against the Dughmush family.

109 martyrs from the same family died in one attack!

The Ministry of Health broadcast their names on Al Jazeera. The list is headed by the Mukhtar of the Dughmush family, Saleh Ashour Daghmush. May God have mercy on him and his family. I hope you don’t deal with the occupation’s narratives and stir up strife by publishing. https://t.co/GKRTiubaKU pic.twitter.com/IARkVc7v8f

Observers said that Israel has not yet succeeded in achieving any victory in Gaza, so it sought to spread rumors and attempt to ignite strife in Gaza in order to strike the cohesive fabric between the people of the Gaza Strip and the Palestinian resistance.

Tweeters pointed out that the occupation tried during the past few days to convince the tribes and mukhtars in the Gaza Strip to create a state of chaos through the bright title of “administering the Gaza Strip instead of Hamas,” which was categorically rejected by all the tribes.

🚨 Important note..

Over the past few days, the Zionist occupation tried to persuade the tribes and mukhtars in the #Gaza Strip to create a state of chaos through a bright title (administering the Gaza Strip instead of #Hamas).

All the families categorically rejected it and considered it a desperate Zionist attempt to divide the Palestinian people who are united with the resistance. Someone was killed...

Others added that the families considered it a desperate attempt to divide the Palestinian people united with the resistance, and after that the occupation began spreading a number of lies in cooperation with its agents and elements of the Authority’s intelligence, the latest of which was today by claiming that the resistance executed one of the mukhtars.

The Zionist entity is looking for Palestinian political and military tools from inside and outside the Gaza Strip to employ in various issues, now and in the future.
