The Minister Delegate for Housing announced on Tuesday that he wanted to prevent the owners of the most energy-intensive homes from renting them on Airbnb.

“It is out of the question that the owners of thermal colanders take refuge” on the platform, said Olivier Klein on BFM Business.

As part of the 2021 Climate and Resilience Law, properties rated F and G in the energy performance diagnosis (DPE) will be gradually banned from rental from January 2023. However, this ban should not apply to properties intended for for tourist rental.

Establish the “same rules”

This discrepancy was denounced by real estate professionals, who feared that owners would transform their accommodation into short-term tourist rentals in an already difficult context.

“We have to work so that it is the same rules”, specified Olivier Klein, assuring that the government “will give itself the means to put the necessary safeguards”.

At the risk that these accommodations switch to tourist rental.

According to a survey made public last September by the National Federation of Real Estate (Fnaim), 6% of thermal sieve owners were considering this tourist rental solution.

“For months, we have been alerting to this scandal,” reacted Ian Brossat, deputy mayor of Paris in charge of housing, on Twitter.
