Revealed by the Nouvelle Star in 2014, Yseult returns to the front of the stage with an aesthetic, global and personal musical project.

INTERVIEW

"People's gaze, I don't care," sings Yseult in his title Corps . Six years after being revealed by the Nouvelle Star, the artist returns with an intimate musical project that she builds every day like a play. "I am my own manager, I perform on my own and I like it because nobody tells me what to do", underlines at the microphone of Europe 1 the one who was tired of record companies and the functioning of the music industry. This is also why she does not hesitate to display her body in her aesthetic and to talk about it: on the cover of her single a belly is displayed, hers, far from the imposed canons of beauty. In her clip, she sings naked, covered only in a few places with a transparent set.

"I try on my scale to get back to basics, which is music and art. The rest is the image. I tell intimate things in my songs, that's why there are a lot of links with my skin. And that is not because it is a kind of 'body positivism'. " Because Yseult does not hesitate to criticize this society which evolves on questions of social, sexual and physical identities: "It irritates me to see that now, we are going to take a big one to talk about a subject, a black for another ... Obviously it must be done but I have the impression that we are waking up today. When I denounced racism and grossophobia a few years ago, people laughed at me ", she remembers. In the magazine for the clothing brand Asos - for which she posed -, she said that she was inspired today by American and British stars on these questions: "Jorja Smith, Mabel, Princess Nokia ... These girls take responsibility for background and have confidence in them. In France, if you say that you like it, you say that you fart yourself. It's crazy, isn't it? ".

An artist who wants to take her time

Involved and committed, Yseult wants to propose a global musical project. She is the one who thinks about the aesthetics of her clips or her covers, she writes and composes ... and wants to break away from the classic patterns imposed on artists by record companies: "I find that we do not allow enough time for artists to develop. In France, there is a whole logic to respect: release a single, present it to the media, seduce them with a small intimate concert and then release the album. But I think that don't be afraid of the weather. "said the one who released two mini albums called Rouge et Noir .

As long as she has, Yseult also uses it for others: she has written texts for Jenifer, Chimène Badi and has made some opening parts for Angela. Whether we love it or hate it, Yseult ultimately has nothing to do with it. As she sings in one of her titles ... she has nothing to prove.
