Lyudmila Navalnaya, mother of Alexei Navalny

»Behind me is the penal colony “Polar Wolf”, where my son Alexei Navalny died on February 16th. I haven't been able to see him for five days. His body was not handed over to me. They don't even tell me where he is. I turn to you, Vladimir Putin: the decision on this issue depends only on you. Let me finally see my son. I demand that Alexei’s body be handed over to me immediately so that I can give him a proper burial.”

Not only Navalny's mother, but also his supporters and many observers in the West are wondering: What exactly happened to Alexei Navalny - and where is his body?

The Russian opposition media “MediaZona” published these surveillance recordings on Monday. They are intended to show a convoy of vehicles belonging to the penal colony authorities that drove from the penal colony to the nearby town of Salekhard on the night of Friday to Saturday. Navalny's body is said to be there.

"The next vehicle in the convoy, a UAS minivan, is law enforcement."

Accordingly, a vehicle from the convoy is suitable for the medical transport of prisoners.

According to Navalny's team, the Russian authorities said the body would be kept under lock and key for another 14 days. The reason is “chemical tests” that are to be carried out on Navalny’s body.

According to Russian authorities, Navalny collapsed and died on Friday while walking in the “Polarwolf” penal colony. His wife, Julija Navalnaya, announced in a video message on Monday that she would continue her husband's work.
