For 15 minutes, several police stations in Lyon, like the one in the 8th arrondissement, held a silent rally this Tuesday noon. - Jérémy Laugier / 20 Minutes

“Everyone is very shocked here. The thirty policemen present at a silent rally in memory of Franck Labois, this Tuesday noon in front of the Lyon 8e police station, were clearly marked. Some of them rubbed shoulders with this police official, who died at the age of 45 on Monday, after being mowed voluntarily by the driver of a van, during an arrest carried out during the night from Friday to Saturday in Bron (Rhône).

Thirty policemen gathered for a silent rally, at the call of the unions, in front of the Lyon 8e police station, where Franck Labois worked for seven years. "His death really took a toll on the entire service," said a former colleague. @ 20Minutes pic.twitter.com/54o8CARwej

Originally from Metz, the victim had worked for six years at the police station in the 8th arrondissement before joining the operational support group (GAO) in 2017. One of his former colleagues in Lyon 8e remembers "a bottle-in -train and a good living ". "His death really took a toll on the whole service," he told us at the end of the 15-minute rally organized by several police unions. The day before, the Minister of the Interior Christophe Castaner went to the headquarters of the Rhône Departmental Security to assure the Rhone police that "this crime will not go unpunished".

For the civil servant having worked for four years with Franck Labois, this drama has the allure of “big sting of recall”: “When it happens to someone we know, we take it a little more for us. We tell ourselves that it has come close and we realize how easy we can be as prey ”.
