Military expert Colonel Hatem Al-Falahi said that the losses inflicted by the resistance on the ranks of the Israeli army in Khan Yunis, south of the Gaza Strip, are considered qualitative par excellence, and confirm the absence of Israeli control over the land.

He added - during an analysis on Al Jazeera - that the operation that took place despite the presence of a large Israeli force on the ground "was of exceptional quality and reflects careful planning."

The Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas, announced the killing of 14 Israeli soldiers in the areas of al-Zinah and Hay al-Amal in Khan Yunis, an operation that “confirms that the Israeli forces are unable to extend their full control over the land, and have even turned into an easy prey for the resistance,” according to al-Falahi, who Expect more losses among the Israelis.

Quality process

The Al-Qassam Brigades said in a statement that its fighters killed 9 Israeli soldiers, and wounded others, in the Al-Zinna area, east of Khan Yunis, explaining that they targeted 4 other Israeli Merkava tanks with a Yassin 105 shell and a foot force with an explosive device, and they killed and wounded each other in Khan Yunis.

The statement indicated that as soon as the rescue forces advanced to the place and reached the middle of a pre-prepared minefield, they were targeted by detonating 3 anti-personnel devices, stressing that the confrontations are still continuing in the Al-Zana area, east of Khan Yunis.

The Al-Qassam Brigades also announced the killing of 5 Israeli soldiers from zero range, wounding others, and destroying a troop carrier in the Al-Amal neighborhood, west of Khan Yunis.

Al-Qassam said that it attacked soldiers who fled to barricade themselves in a house during the attack, confirming that it killed at least 3 of them and wounded others.

Al Jazeera's correspondent reported that 3 Israeli army helicopters landed to transport wounded occupation soldiers east of Khan Yunis.

This operation is the largest since the resistance targeted a force that was booby-trapping a house in the Maghazi camp in the central Gaza Strip, which led to the death of 21 soldiers on January 22.

It is noteworthy that Israeli forces made a major incursion into the Zinna area last December, and destroyed a large part of it.

Unrealistic Israeli plans

Al-Falahi said that the plan drawn up by Israel to enter these areas does not reflect reality because it does not face an organized army, but rather fighters who appear in unexpected places.

Therefore, whenever Israeli forces want to enter a safe area, they find themselves prey to an ambush or a new operation, Al-Falahi says.

The military expert concluded that the repetition of these operations is due to the lack of experience of the Israeli army in these wars, as well as the lack of a clear goal for remaining on the ground for such a period.

In addition, the intelligence on which Israel acts may be the cause of the destruction of its power. Because it may enter a tunnel or a house that has already been booby-trapped by the resistance.
