Yesterday, four representatives of SD wrote in a debate article in Dagens Nyheter that public service needs to be done if:

"An unyielding and unkind news report, a leftist side of the cultural offering and an inability to shed light on the development of society has been a rule rather than an exception."

SD wants to merge today's three public service companies into one. They want to set up a science council that will fact-check what journalists write and make the business more cost-effective.

"Political strategy from SD"

The Social Democrats oppose SD's criticism of public service.

-It is a political strategy from SD that wants to create distrust of public service companies. Public service is not considered to be factual and impartial, which is not true. If you look at the Board of Auditors' cases, you can see that very few cases have been about insolence or impartiality, says Lawen Redar, cultural policy spokesperson for the Social Democrats.

What do you react to in the debate article?

-They want to control the content. We are responding to the proposal for a science council to review the facts and facts of what journalists write. It is a very serious attack on free journalism, says Lawen Redar, who believes that public service needs to remain in its current form:

-We should have a media offering that is independent advertising finance and political governance. This is especially important when you can pay today to get some news, angled news. In every media market where you have a public service, trust in the media is strong, says Lawen Redar.

The cultural news has sought SD for a comment on criticism from the Social Democrats.
