Donald Trump skipped the previous debates in the Republican Party and avoided a discussion on television with his strongest internal party competitor, Nikki Haley.

But now Trump declares that he wants to compete publicly in front of cameras - with incumbent President Joe Biden.

He and Biden need to debate issues important to Americans, Trump said on Truth Social, his own social network.

He is available for debates at any time and any place.

In the article he railed against the Democrats and called the party “corrupt.”

This is not the first time this year that Trump has asked Biden to debate.

As early as February, the ex-president pushed for a public discussion with the incumbent.

Biden responded with humor at the time: “If I were him, I would want to debate me too.

He has nothing to do.”

At that time it was still unclear who would campaign for the Republicans.

After the withdrawal of his strongest internal party competitor Nikki Haley, Trump is now considered set.

As expected, Biden also won all of the important Democratic primaries.

During the last election campaign four years ago, there were two TV duels between Trump and Biden.

A third discussion was canceled after Trump tested positive for Covid and declined to participate in a virtual event.

Traditionally there are three presidential debates in the USA.
