June 6 is the "Anniversary of Time". At the same time, in Makubetsu Town, Hokkaido, a large clock with a history of more than 10 years was repaired and unveiled.

This clock is a large hall clock, placed indoors, with a height of 2 meters and 40 centimeters.

It was used as a signboard clock at a long-established watch store that opened in Obihiro City in Meiji 38, but it was stored in a warehouse for a long time due to the renovation of the store.

In an attempt to revive this historic watch, Kenji Yoshida, the owner of an electronics store in Makubetsu Town, repaired it by cleaning parts, etc., and it began to work again for the first time in about 35 years.

On the 10th, to coincide with the "anniversary of time", this watch was unveiled for the first time since it was repaired, and it was visited at an electronics store in Makubetsu Town. About 30 people from the town gathered.

After the initiation ceremony by the priests, the participants wound up a weight weighing nearly 4 kilograms to power the watch, and when the clock chime sounded "Chillin, Chireen" in time with the time, the participants applauded and cheered.

A man in his 60s who participated said, "It has been revived, so I will come back to see it, and I felt that it sounded good and calming, like an old clock."

Mr. Yoshida said, "It has a long history and is very valuable, so I would like it to be passed on to the next generation, and I hope it will become a new tourist attraction in Makubetsu Town."
