Regarding the death of a man who was incarcerated in a penal facility in Saitama prefecture from cancer, the bereaved family, etc. I filed a lawsuit seeking compensation with the Tokyo District Court.

The lawsuit was filed by the mother and fiancé of a former inmate who died at the age of 23 while in prison, and held a press conference in Tokyo on the 14th.

According to the bereaved family and lawyers, around October 2019, while being held at the Saitama Detention Branch in Saitama Prefecture, the man felt that he had a lump in his testicles and appealed to the person in charge of the facility to see a doctor. It was three months after I received it, and after another three months, I was allowed to see an external medical institution and found out that I had cancer.

The man underwent surgery, but the metastases had already spread when he fell ill again and was transferred to a medical prison.

For this reason, the bereaved family and others claimed that ``he died because the examination was neglected and appropriate examinations and treatments were not performed in the penal institution.'' In total, the government paid over 76 million yen in compensation. I am looking for

A female fiancée said, "If I had received good medical care, I would have been able to stay with him even now. I want you to tell me openly about what happened at the facility."

Lawyer Ayuko Takato said, "Even if your freedom is restricted because you are committing a crime, is it necessary to limit it so that you lose your life? Even prisoners should have the right to receive medical care."
