In Takamatsu City, Japan's number one pine bonsai production area, the export of black pine bonsai to the EU = European Union is in full swing, and the bonsai center in the city is proceeding at a rapid pace for export.

The area from Kinashi-cho to Kokubunji-cho in Takamatsu City is a major production area for pine bonsai, accounting for about 80% of domestic production.



The ban on exporting Kuromatsu bonsai to the EU was lifted in October 2020. Exports from Japan are in full swing.

At the Kinashi Ueki Bonsai Center in Takamatsu City, work is underway to export approximately 500 bonsai trees that were purchased at a business meeting held last September with buyers from the Netherlands and Spain.



After the bonsai producers had finished disinfecting the bonsai, they put the moss on top of the soil to retain moisture and packed the bonsai into large cardboard boxes that were easy to handle during transportation. .



Satoru Oji, chairman of the Takamatsu Bonsai Export Promotion Association, said, "I'm very happy that I'm finally going out this time. There are many bonsai farmers in Kinashi and Kokubunji who mainly produce black pine, so I'm very grateful to be able to produce black pine. I would be really happy if people in Europe could enjoy the well-crafted Kuromatsu."
