More than 4,000 companies selling gems and jewelry from 44 countries and regions are exhibiting at the international trade fair that began in Hong Kong on the 27th.



Approximately 80 companies from Japan, including those involved in pearl production, processing, and sales, were exhibiting from Mie and Hyogo prefectures, and they held business negotiations with buyers from mainland China and other countries.



Japan's pearl exports temporarily decreased significantly due to the effects of the new coronavirus, but last year's export value was over 45.5 billion yen, of which exports to Hong Kong accounted for over 80% of the total, at over 38.3 billion yen. occupied.

A man from a company in Mie Prefecture said, ``We used to have strong demand from Western countries, but now it's mainly from China and ASEAN. We want to make various approaches.''
