(New Era, New Journey, New Great Achievement) Jilin County built a Huimin canteen: "on the tip of the tongue" elderly care warms the stomach and heart

Chinanews.com, Baishan, November 22 (Gao Long'an) Hu Xunting stewed the fresh meat for 1 hour, skimmed the fat and removed the oil, and then put it in the pot for cooking. This time-consuming method can make the meat tender and not greasy, making it easier for the elderly to chew and digest .

In early November, Huimin Canteen, the first elderly restaurant in Changbai Korean Autonomous County of Jilin Province (hereinafter referred to as "Changbai County"), officially opened.

At lunch time every day, there are laughter and laughter here, and the atmosphere is warm and lively.

Hu Shude, who is over eighty years old, brings his wife Jiang Xiuhua to the cafeteria almost every day.

"This cafeteria is close to home, and it's easy to eat and safe to eat. We like to eat the braised pork and shrimp paste tofu here." "Sir, sit down, and I'll serve you the plate." "Post-95" volunteers at Ying ran back and forth in the hall.

Pan Jufang, 83, is also a frequent visitor to the cafeteria.

"It's inconvenient to cook by yourself. Now that we have a cafeteria, it's easier for me and my children. I can also meet old sisters and chat with them."

According to Nan Mingshu, director of the Civil Affairs Bureau of Changbai County, the county has a population of 58,000, of which 26.8% are people over the age of 60.

Last year, in order to solve the dining problem of the local elderly over 60 years old, the county invested more than 1.7 million yuan to build a Huimin canteen of 725 square meters, hired a professional catering team to operate it, and arranged 4 government cadres and volunteers to provide scanning code, Meal pick-up, guidance and other services.

It turned out that Changbai County organized personnel to go to Huzhou in Zhejiang Province, Qingdao in Shandong Province, Changchun in Jilin Province and Meihekou and other places to "learn scriptures" and returned. They conducted a questionnaire survey on 1,000 local elderly people and finally determined that Huimin Canteen adopts the form of unlimited buffet. Each meal costs 10 yuan—the local equivalent of a bowl of ordinary noodles.

In fact, many seniors spend far less on meals than that.

According to the regulations, the elderly aged 60 to 69 have 7 yuan per meal, and the government subsidizes 3 yuan; the elderly aged 70 to 89, low-income households, and special poverty support personnel have 5 yuan per meal, and the government subsidizes 5 yuan; the elderly over 90 years old People eat for free.

The government should ensure that these groups spend the least amount of money and enjoy the best quality service.

Hu Xunting, the person in charge of the cafeteria, is a senior nutritionist and senior chef. He prepares 10 hot dishes and 4 Korean-style pickles every day, and a certain proportion of coarse grains should be added to the staple food.

He said: "The diet of the elderly must be healthy and nutritious, and taste good. Less oil, less salt and less sugar are the key."

As soon as Huimin Canteen opened, the number of diners far exceeded expectations. It was originally expected that two to three hundred people would come every day, but the actual number of diners reached four to five hundred, and the maximum number of people came 674 in one day.

Nan Mingshu believes that this is a good thing, which shows that Huimin canteen has been recognized by the elderly group.

As for the immediate problem, they have a solution.

"We have calculated that it takes an elderly person an average of 20 to 25 minutes from entering the door to finishing their meal. On the one hand, we have extended business hours and strengthened guidance; on the other hand, we have called on the elderly in all communities to eat at different times."

The Civil Affairs Bureau of Changbai County quickly sent more volunteers to participate in the service, and Hu Shuting also hurriedly mobilized manpower to expand the original catering team of 7 to nearly 20 people, and at the same time improve the food supply chain.

"The elderly live well, and their children can rest assured." Nan Mingshu said that the Huimin canteen is a successful attempt and provides a new experience for the local home-based elderly care service.

"We are planning to use the space above the cafeteria to set up an activity room for the elderly and a university for the elderly, so as to bring more tangible benefits to the lives of the elderly." (End)
