German pediatrician Dr. Jacob Maske said, "The high temperature is a common health problem in children, especially during the winter," noting that fever is, in principle, not bad at first, because it is a natural defensive reaction of the body towards infection.

He added that fever requires consulting a doctor in the following cases:

■ The fever persists for more than a day.

■ Fever does not go away despite taking antipyretic drugs, such as drugs containing "paracetamol" and "ibuprofen", and following other measures to reduce high fever, such as cold compresses and bed rest.

■ The appearance of other symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, rash and convulsions.

Maske pointed out that fever may indicate several diseases, such as otitis media, pneumonia, meningitis, rheumatic diseases, and blood poisoning.
