At about 1:00 p.m. on September 9, the Hong Kong police detonated a 70-year-old British-style mine left over from World War II in the waters northeast of Hok Tsui, causing waves on the sea.

This is the first time that a mine has been discovered in the waters of Hong Kong. The mine was located in the shallow waters of the seabed at a depth of about 15 meters, 1.4 kilometers northeast of Hok Tsui.

On the same day, the police blocked the water area within one kilometer of the mine location to deal with the related mines.
