In the Peter R. de Vries murder case, the Dutch police arrested another suspect on Wednesday.

As reported by several media, it is said to be a 27-year-old man from the Caribbean island of Curaçao, which belongs to the Netherlands.

The investigators therefore believe that he belonged to a criminal gang that shot the well-known TV journalist in Amsterdam in July last year.

De Vries was the key witness in a trial against drug lord Ridouan Taghi.

Immediately after the crime, the police arrested two men, the suspected shooter and the driver of the getaway car.

Both have been in court since early June.

The verdict in this case was supposed to be on July 14, but the court had to postpone it after new findings became known.

At the beginning of July, the police brought the Pole Krystian M. into connection with the crime.

He had already been arrested last year in connection with another contract killing.

M. is said to have recruited the two accused for the contract killing and instructed them on the day of the attack.

The police were able to decrypt chats on a mobile phone that document this exactly.

They were partly conducted in Polish between the client and the defendant Kamil E., who was driving the getaway vehicle.

A new witness meanwhile told the investigators that M. is said to have pressured the accused E. to shoot himself, which he refused.

He then had to drive the getaway car to avoid being killed himself.

The lawyer then requested that the verdict be postponed and that the testimony be dealt with in the proceedings because she could exonerate her client.

The court followed this request, against the will of the public prosecutor.

The new witness is a friend of M's, but not a suspect himself.

He also testified that Taghi ordered the murder himself.
