Tomorrow (3rd) is Constitution Memorial Day.

When I asked NHK's opinion polls whether Russia's military invasion of Ukraine made them aware of the "abandonment of war" and "free speech" stipulated by the Constitution, they were all "awareness." "I came to do it" accounted for about 70%.

NHK conducted a poll for three days from April 15th, using a method called RDD, which calls landline and mobile phone numbers randomly generated by computers for people aged 18 and over nationwide.

The number of people surveyed was 2,978, and 50.6%, or 1,508, responded.

The investigation asked three things if Russia had become aware of the Constitution following the military invasion of Ukraine.

Regarding "abandonment of war and lack of force" stipulated in Article 9 of the Constitution, 71% said they "became aware" and 19% said they were "not aware".

Of those who answered "I became aware", 34% answered that Article 9 of the Constitution "needs to be amended" and 30% answered "I don't think it is necessary to amend". , 33% answered "I can't say either".

Regarding "respect for basic human rights," 69% said they became aware of it, and 20% said they did not become aware of it.

Regarding "freedom of speech and expression, right to know", 71% said they became conscious and 18% said they did not become conscious, and about 70% of all items were military invasions. I answered that I became aware of it.

* Since the survey results are rounded off, the total may not be 100%.
