The Egyptian security services arrested Ahmed Abu Al-Nasr, known as the "curcumin doctor", after complaints accusing him of "swindling and deceiving patients, and claiming via satellite channels that he is the first certified specialist from the Ministry of Health and Population for herbal treatment, contrary to the truth", and legal measures were taken against him.

A number of social networking site users had published testimonies about facts in which they said that they were subjected to "a fraud and deception by the pharmacist who promotes himself through satellite channels and deludes patients that he is a therapeutic expert who can treat all diseases using raw materials from herbal extracts", according to the Egyptian media.
