Lee "Scratch" Perry was behind reggae songs such as "Small Ax" and "Duppy Conqueror" and worked not only as a singer but also as a producer.

He is also often referred to as the music branch dubs founder.

He died Sunday at Noel Holmes Hospital in western Jamaica.

Jamaica's Prime Minister Andrew Holness wrote on Twitter that he was thinking of Lee Perry's relatives.

According to Rolling Stone, he writes:

"My deepest condolences go to the family, friends and fans of this legendary record producer and singer" He has worked with and produced several artists, including Bob Marley and the Wailers, The Congos, Adrian Sherwood, Beastie Boys and many others.

Without a doubt, he will always be remembered for his excellent contribution to music.

May he rest in peace".
