Regarding the "Ghibli Museum in Mitaka" in Mitaka, Tokyo, which has been severely managed due to the influence of the new coronavirus, the city that owns the facility solicited donations through crowdfunding, and the target amount was 1 in just one day from the start. It has reached 10 million yen.

The Ghibli Museum, Mitaka, which has been popular with many fans since its opening 20 years ago, has been greatly affected by the continued temporary closure and admission restrictions due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection.

The number of visitors dropped from about 580,000 in fiscal 2019 to 90,000 last year, so we have responded by withdrawing the reserve fund.

However, as the management would be in jeopardy if nothing was done, Mitaka City, which owns the facility, solicited donations through crowdfunding from the 15th of this month, and achieved the target amount of 10 million yen in just one day.

Mitaka City says, "We are very grateful for this kind of support as it is difficult to expect a recovery in admission fee income. We would like to ask as many people as possible to continue to cooperate."
