  • The incidence rate and the positivity rate are falling in Pays-de-la-Loire and remain well below the national average.

  • Almost 120,000 people received their first dose of the vaccine.

  • Three vaccines are now distributed (Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca).

After significant growth in January, the main figures for the Covid-19 epidemic have been down slightly since February in Pays-de-la-Loire.

The regional incidence rate, which measures the number of new contaminations among the population, thus amounts to 133 per 100,000 inhabitants, against 162 a week earlier, according to the latest epidemiological bulletin published on Friday evening by the regional health agency. (ARS).

This is well below the national incidence rate (201).

Another indicator: the positivity rate among those screened also decreases, going from 5.8% to 4.8%.

It is in Loire-Atlantique and Vendée that the indicators are the most favorable and in Sarthe that they are the least good.

The ARS qualifies this trend as a “false dish descending”.

Good news, obviously, but received with caution.

Already because the number of hospitalized patients "remains high" (918 including 97 in intensive care), even if it is decreasing.

Then because the progression of variants, deemed to be more contagious, is worrying.

They now represent 28% of new positive cases in the region, and even more than a third in Maine-et-Loire (40%) and Loire-Atlantique (33%).

At this rate, they will become the majority before the end of the month in the region.

The wait remains extremely high

Fortunately, vaccination is progressing, slowly but surely.

Nearly 120,000 people received their first injection in Pays-de-la-Loire.

Three types of vaccines are now distributed (Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca), "which makes it possible to protect new audiences: people living with a disability and accommodated in collective accommodation, health professionals under 65, elderly people living in assisted living facilities ”, rejoices the ARS.

Some 50,000 new meeting slots in one of the region's 43 vaccination centers have also been open since Friday, for vaccinations in March, announces the ARS.

But the priority people waiting are still extremely numerous.

Some families have been connecting several times a day for three weeks on the sante.fr platform, to no avail.
