  • Friends who meet through screens interposed during confinement are living a real nightmare.

  • François-Xavier Demaison, Nadia Farès, Stéphane de Groodt, Michaël Youn, Audrey Fleurot and Franck Dubosc are the stars of this very successful thriller.

  • Romuald Boulanger keeps the spectator in suspense throughout his film.

Imagine a group of friends who meet for a virtual aperitif during the first confinement.

Everything predisposes them to a good moment of conviviality.

This is the pitch of

Connected

by Romuald Boulanger, available this Thursday on Amazon Prime.

However, the fun will turn into a nightmare when they see one of them being kidnapped.

How to manage the situation by interposed screens?

In the #JDD I recommend the very successful # Connected by Romuald Boulanger, the first French film on confinement!

“It was when I saw two friends arguing during a 'video call' that the idea for the film came to me.

We tried to find a new way to tell a story through this format, ”explains Romuald Boulanger to

20 Minutes.

François-Xavier Demaison, Nadia Farès, Vanessa Guide, Stéphane De Groodt, Michaël Youn, Audrey Fleurot and Franck Dubosc answered his call for this excellent surprise full of suspense.

Like a “Festen” 2.0.

The whole quickly turns to the

style settling of

scores

while the action unfolds between cell phones, tablets and computers.

The production juggles with different media to better lose the viewer in its meanders.

“We wrote during confinement but without rushing, insists Romauld Boulanger.

This period was truly fascinating to explore.

Sometimes hilarious or scary, the adventures of its heroes are sufficiently paced and well written to have fun watching their friendships shatter before our eyes.

Together but separate

Shot in eight and a half days, according to a strict sanitary protocol,

Déconnectés

was one of the first films to be released after deconfinement last June.

“It was a way of reviving the machine for both the actors and the technicians,” says the director.

Each and every one has played their part on their own without seeing the performance of the others in custom-built sets.

“Those who are not supposed to be in the same room have never crossed paths,” says Romuald Boulanger.

It was like a score where you record the instruments separately while I had to play the conductor to make everything homogenous.

»A total success because we really believe in it.

No re-containment

"It was not necessary that it turns to the mosaic like the credits of the

Muppet Show

or of the

Academy of the nine

, we therefore worked on an original interface based on the reality of virtual contacts", specifies the filmmaker who does not 'don't hesitate to get certain characters out of their apartment, just to air the action.

“We really enjoyed shooting this film, but I can't see myself doing the same thing for the second confinement,” insists Romuald Boulanger.

Too bad:

Connected

is so distracting that we would have gladly reconnected.
