[Commentary] On November 7, the third China International Import Expo "The Fourth Industrial Revolution and Smart Medical Forum" was co-sponsored by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization Investment and Technology Promotion Network, China News Service and the State Council and Johnson & Johnson China. Held in Shanghai.

Zeng Guang, a member of the high-level expert group of the National Health Commission, Zhang Wenhong, the leader of the Shanghai New Coronary Pneumonia Medical Treatment Expert Group, and other experts attended the meeting to discuss the "smart public health" reflected in the epidemic.

[Explanation] Zeng Guang pointed out that "smart public health" is very important and can play an intelligence role in an infectious disease epidemic.

In 1985, when I was in charge of reporting national infectious diseases, what was our intelligence system behind?

Unimaginable.

At that time, the first-level report was required, and we could only see the epidemic situation of the previous month every month.

When we held a national epidemic meeting, everyone came to the meeting with an abacus, and everyone added up the numbers and the meeting ended.

Therefore, when I went to study in the United States in 1986, I suggested that the country should promptly launch a statistical report on computer epidemics, and soon our country realized it.

After SARS, we have taken a bigger step. We are not ordinary reports. The world first adopts direct network reporting. Even township health centers can report reports to the National Center for Disease Control as soon as possible.

In this epidemic prevention and control, I used the widespread application of digitalization as a tool in the epidemic prevention toolbox.

In the past, we only reported morbidity and death. Now our digitization finds risk factors and people's aggregation. Based on basic information of people and mobile network information, we can find many close contacts and people in high-risk areas.

[Explanation] Zhang Wenhong also feels deeply about this.

He emphasized that for all infectious diseases, whether acute or chronic, the key is to manage patients during the infectious period.

However, he believes that how to deliver these social resources to each patient and effectively manage infectious disease resources is beyond the reach of traditional human resources. It must be achieved through "smart medical care".

We will also use the experience summed up in this "Smart Anti-epidemic" and apply it to other infectious diseases that are not COVID-19.

Many other Chinese companies and foreign companies are actually united.

We went deep into various places in Yunnan and Guizhou, deep into the corners of China where infectious diseases might be distributed, but without so many doctors, how do we track these patients?

In this process, "Internet +" has been fully applied. We collect all patient-related data, and provide the distribution of drug resources, etc., none of them use Internet resources.

I don’t believe that we can see the disease completely by tracing the patient’s bedside.

No, but using the entire Internet and "smart medical care" to mobilize all doctors in the corner of China.

[Explanation] Regarding China’s performance in the “intelligent fight against the epidemic”, An Sijia, president of Xi’an Janssen Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. also stated at the meeting that health issues are global issues, and China is in the process of promoting digital healthcare and medical public health systems. Has a world-leading performance.

We must rely on modern technology. Digital technologies are everywhere in the 21st century, so China is leading the way.

Including medical-related services provided by the Internet, China is at the forefront of the world.

[Explanation] For other infectious diseases that may appear in the future, both Zeng Guang and Zhang Wenhong believe that it is necessary to strengthen system construction and extend the "smart public health" experience accumulated during the epidemic to the future prevention and control of infectious diseases.
