Death misses Mohammed Saleh Al Gurg .. Emirati cultural stature

Today, Sunday, the Emirati writer, Muhammad Saleh Al-Gurg, died at the age of 84.

Officials and intellectuals mourned on social media, describing the late as an Emirati cultural figure, a mobile encyclopedia, and enriched the Arab library, especially by translating the Rubaiyat al-Khayyam, as the late was fluent in several languages.

The Minister of Culture and Youth Noura Al-Kaabi wrote, through her Twitter account: “Today we lost the writer Muhammad Saleh Al-Gurg ... a national cultural stature ... He was an active participant in the cultural scene and contributed to the enrichment of the National Library ... We ask God to have mercy on the deceased extensively And to inspire his family and his relatives patience and solace ».

Al-Gurg, who was born in Dubai in 1936, presented during his career many writings that influenced the cultural scene and were published through the pages of newspapers and magazines. He used to publish it under the title "The tip of the iceberg."

The deceased studied at the Al-Falah and Ahmadiyya schools in Dubai at that time, then adopted his self-education, using his father’s library, and was able to master the languages: English, Farsi, and Urdu, in addition to Arabic.

Al-Gurg also mourned the Deputy Chief of Police and Public Security in Dubai, Lieutenant General Dhahi Khalfan, and a large number of writers, in addition to several cultural institutions.
