The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the success of the mediation of the State of Qatar in the release of an Austrian citizen who was detained in Afghanistan, while the advisor to the Prime Minister of Austria, Karl Nehammer, appreciated the step and expressed his thanks to Qatar.

The Qatari Foreign Ministry said that the Austrian citizen, who was released through Qatari mediation, had arrived in Doha in preparation for his transfer to his final destination.

For his part, Nehammer said in a blog post on the X platform, “I extend my sincere thanks to the State of Qatar for its strong support in the release of one of our citizens from prison in Afghanistan.”

In turn, Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al-Khulaifi, Minister of State at the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, expressed the State of Qatar’s thanks to the Afghan caretaker government for its response to its mediation efforts.

Qatar News Agency (QNA) quoted Al-Khulaifi as confirming that the efforts of the State of Qatar will continue during the next stage to contribute to resolving conflicts through constructive dialogue and peaceful means, and to enhance security and stability in the region and the world.
