The Portuguese Association of Wood and Furniture Industries is participating in the sixth edition of Dubai Design Week, which starts today, with the aim of shedding light on "the best of Portugal" in the fields of furniture design, decoration, furniture, lighting, textiles, and artistic products that embody Portuguese culture and art.

Associated Design, established by the League, will promote the most prominent Portuguese brands during its participation in the event, which is being held in the design district of Dubai.

The "Portuguese League" pavilion includes a huge model of a conceptual house completely designed and produced in Portugal, with the aim of highlighting the Portuguese interior designs and décor, which combine talent and creativity, and reflect a mixture of innovation, sustainability and modern trends in furniture design, lighting, textiles and fabrics.

Victor Bocas, president of the Portuguese Association of Wood and Furniture Industries, said: “Dubai Design Week is the best regional platform to showcase future concepts in the fields of design, arts and architecture.

The importance of the event stems from the fact that it represents a pioneering exhibition at the regional level, providing the opportunity to introduce the brands on a large scale and to a large segment of those interested, in addition to its program full of workshops, allowing us to introduce the Portuguese culture and art, and holding business meetings with local and international companies.

He added: “The furniture market in the UAE is characterized by its high competitiveness, thanks to the increasing demand for furniture and furniture products, as this rise led to the growth of local demand, and the emergence of many players to meet the requirements of the same target audience for luxury furniture products.

The momentum in the UAE furniture market is strengthened by the presence of more than 90% of the population residing in urban areas, in addition to the increase in per capita disposable income.

Consequently, the desire to buy luxury furniture is high among consumers in the country, which makes the UAE one of the most important markets for us to introduce Portuguese brands. ”
