Why is Yolanda Díaz's dressing style so much to talk about?

(Valladolid, 1979) studied Law, but soon specialized in fine arts based in Paris and Rome, where he obtained recognition for his career (such as the Platinum Medal he received from the French Academy of Arts or the
Prize Leonardo da Vinci).
With a marked hyperrealist style but with baroque and Renaissance influences, the artist has a
long professional career
that includes milestones such as
exhibitions in the Tokyo subway
or in the
Louvre Museum
and the
Ephemeral Grand Palace in Paris.
She currently directs the
Museum of Stories and Science
in Paredes de Nava (Palencia), which she founded - and which also remains the only one of its kind in Spain -, and manages the
Museum of Storytelling
in Urueña,
in the same province. . She has also been awarded international awards such as the Best Fashion Design in Qatar or the
Art Connects Women international competition.
The election of the Minister of Equality was not coincidental; from the color to the motif they were linked to Redondo and were created 'ad hoc' for the occasion. "What's better than wearing a
checkered dress to exalt art and culture,"
explains the Valladolid-based artist on the other end of the phone. Her
dream world
draws on the Renaissance always from the point of view of identity, something that has been the basis for shaping this particular design.
When tackling new projects, Largo says he works in various scenarios, from the design of patterns to the reconstruction of one that particularly catches his attention. "Sometimes seamstresses also help me, but it is always about suits that I customize or recreate." Specifically, the base design of this dress is an image that won the
Boticcelli award in Florence,
on which other details have been squared. "She has made it very easy for me, since
she is an admirer of my career
and she has allowed herself to be advised," she acknowledges. "Also, I think the dress embodies the ministry very well because of details like the mauve or the little girl that appears."
The minister got her into fashion
What many do not know is that Largo
started in fashion encouraged by the minister herself,
"who inaugurated an exhibition of mine (at the Dubai Hilton) and told me about the possibility of taking textile design seriously," recalls the artist.
Proud of her Autonomous Community and her country in artistic matters, a firm defender that "art should be internationalized as much as possible", Largo considers that in Spain there persists "a misunderstanding in this regard, that tendency to undervalue what is ours." Largo remembers the moment when, representing Spain at the
2020 International Women's Forum
(held in Dubai), she triumphed in a Castilian suit, arousing admiration among the guests present there such as
Ivanka Trump,
the former prime minister of the United Kingdom.
Theresa May
or
Kristalina Georgieva
, managing director of the IMF. "Also in Los Angeles they were fascinated with the Goyesque design, she says, remembering her meeting with the actress
Jessica Alba."

With a work of global repercussion and a certain name in Spain for her role as
art
director
and curator,
now designer, Largo is in the media spotlight these days. The appearance of the Minister of Equality at the Goya with one of her dresses has definitely made her one of the great 'targets' of today. We asked her opinion about the rest of the guests on the Goya night, of whom she highlights their elegance and sobriety in equal measure. Her next challenge, in addition to continuing to give life to her works through
designs like the one worn
by
Ana Redondo,
is the
projection of her work on the screens in Times Square
in New York on February 14, one of the fruits of the award. which led her to exhibit in a mural of gigantic dimensions in the iconic location last year.
She is open to working with the minister again. He thinks of her that
"she is a very balanced person,
so I think she is going to do very well." "When she sees something clear, she bets. And that is already a winning spirit," she adds in conclusion.
