Despite the success of the student (Rasha) in passing the high school stage of the scientific department at a rate of 97.9%, and her enrollment in the College of Chemical Engineering at Abu Dhabi University, Al Ain, she cannot continue her university studies, because her academic excellence collided with the inability of her parents to secure her university tuition.

The university administration requires her to pay accumulated installments of 22 thousand and 113 dirhams, so that she can complete her university career.

(Rasha - Syria - 19 years old) went to those with compassionate hearts to extend a helping hand to her and help her pay the late tuition fees due to the inability of her family to secure it.

The student told «Emirates Today» that her father has worked in the state since 1992, in many private and governmental agencies. During the past years, he was able to provide for the needs of family members, and they did not lack anything. But his condition changed in May last year, after he lost his job.

And she continued: «I was able during the previous years of my studies to obtain a concession in all educational levels, and I graduated in the twelfth grade of the science department at a rate of 97.9%. I joined Abu Dhabi University to fulfill my father's dream of becoming a chemical engineer, and to be proud of him. My university trip started last year at the College of Engineering, and I was able to pass my first year with honors, with a rate of 3.90%. My family was happy with my academic excellence. ”

She added, “But this happiness did not last long. My father’s condition changed in May last year, after he lost his job, which was a source of livelihood for the family. However, he could afford to pay for my studies to finish the second semester of the first year. Because of my university excellence, I got 40% off tuition fees. But this year my father was totally unable to pay even a fraction of my studies.

The university administration sent a letter asking me to pay the university tuition fees. (Rasha) added: “I felt sad that my heart was suffering, as I was an outstanding student at the university, but my excellence does not qualify me to continue my university education, due to the unexpected circumstances that stood in the way of my father and prevented me from achieving his dream.”

She said: “Whenever I look at my father, I see him straying with intense thought, after our financial situation worsened, and the family became without an income source, as we receive help from family and friends. "I cannot describe the feeling I had when he told me that the conditions we were going through would make me stop completing my university career." She added that she lives with her father and mother, in the house of her brother, who supports a family of four, and works in a private sector institution with a salary of 5000 dirhams, from which he pays the rent of the house and bank installments.

(Rasha) expressed her hope that the hand of goodness extends to her, and that those with compassionate hearts will help her to pay her university fees, so that she can continue her university journey.

Requesting Rasha:

“During my school years, I obtained excellence in all educational levels.”

Rasha began her journey at the College of Engineering last year, and went beyond the first year with "Excellence".
