Christophe Castaner, Minister of the Interior - Alfonso Jimenez / REX / SIPA

Welcoming "the commitment of the French", Christophe Castaner recalled Sunday that the goal is a deconfinement "from May 11", with traffic constraints.

"Our objective is clear, clear, precise: it is deconfinement (...) from May 11," said the Minister of the Interior to the RTL / Le Figaro / LCI Grand Jury.

"We are going to reach it, I am convinced, because the French have made significant efforts since the beginning of the confinement and I do not imagine for a second that they lift their engagement and that suddenly, they run a collective risk to everyone, ”he said.

"Fewer people today who travel without a certificate"

The Minister of the Interior stressed that “what we have observed in recent days is that there are more people on the street but when we do checks, what we notice is that this are people who are in a regular situation, who have filled out their certificate ".

“We are on the same level of control and we have fewer people who today move without certification and outside the nails. There have been 19 million checks since the start of containment, a million minutes and two-thirds are for people who did not complete the certificate. If you bring that back to the whole of the French population and to the period concerned, it is quite little, ”according to the minister.

Time to return to your main residence?

The French, and in particular the Parisians, who would be confined far from their home, have the possibility of returning now, according to the minister.

"When they left, they had the right to leave (...) They have the possibility of returning to their principal residence to resume a professional activity or to educate the children", he said, under condition of have "completed a return home certificate, compelling family reason".

After May 11, "we took a limit, 100 km which allows people to be able to move (...) but basically if we want to fight the virus we must not move," he said. .

No free traffic in green regions

Asked about the possibility of relaxing these rules in regions classified as green, he replied that "if you think that we can completely free up traffic and not respect the rules in this region on the grounds that it is a green region, I can tell you that in two weeks it will be red ”.
