According to the National Police Agency, the number of children under the age of 18 who became victims of crimes triggered by SNS was 2082 last year nationwide, the highest since 2008 when statistics began.

Among them, high school students are the largest, with 1044, followed by 847 junior high school students and 72 elementary school students.

In addition, Twitter was the most frequently used by the affected children, with 807, followed by Himabe with 307 and Instagram with 120.

In November last year, a sixth grader girl from Osaka was taken to Tochigi Prefecture by a man she met on Twitter, and many cases were involved in serious crimes such as kidnapping.

Police are working to send messages that warn of minors writing to entice minors, and are working with SNS operators to strengthen their measures.
