Just a small point before the outgoing mayor ... Olivier Falorni came out ahead of the first round of municipal elections in La Rochelle with 33.26% of the vote. Outgoing mayor Jean-François Fountaine (DvG) is close behind, with 32.62%. Olivier Falorni, PS dissident, had beaten Ségolène Royal in the legislative elections of 2012, in the first co-conscription of Charente-Maritime.

Jean-Marc Soubeste (EELV) came third (16.7%) in this first ballot, marked by a high abstention rate (61.93%). The elections are over for Bruno Léal (7.79%), Martine Wittevert (5.16%), Jaouad El Marbouh (3.25%) and Antoine Colin (1.22%).
