An individual, implicated in a case of domestic violence, attacked a police officer on duty at a police station in La Rochelle this Tuesday afternoon with a knife. According to information from Europe 1, the suspect, of French nationality and unknown to the police, in turn wanted to file a complaint against his wife for domestic violence. He was taken into custody.

The scene took place this Tuesday around 12:30 p.m. An individual, of French nationality and unknown to the police, presented himself at a police station in La Rochelle to file a complaint against his wife for domestic violence. The latter then asked to be received by a police officer, whose identity he knew. According to information from Europe 1, this same official had previously received another complaint, that of the suspect's wife who also denounced domestic violence suffered at the hands of her husband.

Transported to emergency

Seeing the police officer approaching him, the suspect then stood up abruptly, stabbing the officer several times. According to two union sources, the attacker, described as "very agitated", "refused to sit down". Helped by his colleagues, the policeman managed to ward off this attack which could take on a criminal nature. He suffered superficial injuries to his face and hand and was taken to the emergency room. His vital prognosis is not in jeopardy. The author was arrested and then taken into police custody.
